The Reservoir
Originally the site of the John Martin Reservoir, the Verdugos established their dominance of the area not long after the bombs fell. There was little competition in the early days which allowed them to set up an impressive array of devices to harness natural energy for their daily needs. Plotting a path of success for the colony, it was not long until they found their identity in the wasteland.
Composed mainly of Mexican nationals that had legally migrated during the Sino American War, they were already well accustomed to bigotry before they were turned into ghouls. Believing that a strong system of laws would keep their people from being subjected to savagery in the days to come, the leaders made a commitment to keeping the peace across the Dust Bowl. Without the resources for prison complexes or holding cells, punishments must be administered on the spot, something that is made clear by how many corpses dangle at the entrances.
Although the majority of the population live in adobe style huts near the water, they do construct large community buildings to keep the morale up in between work. These saloons and brothels line the main roads, and have been known to welcome respectful humans with caps in their pocket. Cheating at poker or running out on a lady of the night can have some serious consequences here however. The lucky ones get sent packing with a few less teeth, the others find themselves joining the Reservoir’s quiet gate greeters.
Main sources of Sustenance
Imported crops and livestock: Raising several livestock species, the Reservoir has ample meat to trade to the Rad Farm in exchange for fresh vegetables. There are a few crops they have managed to cultivate, but they are usually only available to the elite.
Depósito de Radio
(Radio Reservoir to outsiders)
This radio station not only reports on the latest list of lawbreakers and their punishments, but also brings a wealth of culture to the dust Bowl. Blues, Jazz, and many more soulful emotional tunes that can melt even the toughest cowboys heart, these somber songs connect deeply with Los Verdugos. Many have endured unspeakable tragedies and hardships over the two hundred years they have lived to get here, so quietly reflecting on their past while listening to the radio around a campfire is considered somewhat of a local tradition.
