The Verdant Abyss

Widely considered a myth, this hidden oasis was said to be created by the Bastards with seeds they brought from the Mariposa Military Base. Unable to obtain any direct FEV, this habitat was created to shelter the limited population of west-coast mutants so they could not be exterminated by one of their rivals on the surface. Believing there is a connection between the cure to their sterility and the reproducing flora, the Greenskins have set up a laboratory here to keep a close eye on the entire process.

The chlorophyll in most of the vegetation has evolved to use radiation in lieu of sunlight when performing photosynthesis. With nuclear materials deposited into the soil and access to an underground river, this ecosystem is capable of functioning autonomously from the outside world indefinitely. A utopia for those infected with FEV, the fauna have formed a tight symbiotic bond with one another in order to thrive alongside this environment.

Several entrances consist of living vines that can change color and texture using chromatophores in a similar fashion as octopi and squid. Revealing their true nature exclusively to those they detect with pheromones altered by FEV, these living doors are only vulnerable when they are already open. Escaped slaves give accounts of a stark departure from reality once inside. They say eventually the roads and paths disappear along with gravity itself as life takes shape in all directions.
