The Coming of Ram
The Coming of Ram is a Foundation Tale, one of the key stories that makes up the doctrine of the Trinity Cult. It recounts how Ram first comes to the Great Realm and his subsequent encounters with Mithani and Floree. It also recounts their battles and how he eventually joins them in fellowship, therefore forming the Trinity Cult.
Summary
Mithani and Floree were at this time established in the Great Realm, though animals as we know them had not yet been formed. Birds existed and dragons, as well as other un-formed monsters such as crocodiles and serpents. Ram came across from the Dream Lands as a great conqueror who had already subdued all in his path. Intent on conquering this land too, he set down his flag. Legends say Mithani appeared and wrenched it from the ground, a feat considered impossible due to Ram’s strength in placing it.
The two fought and in earlier legends Floree took part, striking a decisive blow which wounded Ram’s leg. It is always consistent that Mithani struck the final blow by ramming his antlers into Ram’s chest. After his fall, Floree, struck by compassion, tended to his wounds. As a result, war and violence has always succumbed to love and peace, eventually, and war is always subservient to the demands of lords (reflecting Mithani’s dominance of Ram).
Spread
The story is one of the tales which form the bedrock of the Trinity Cult. The myth is widespread across the entire realm and well accepted by the Chapel (the law on all religious doctrine) as a true account of the early days of the gods.
Variations & Mutation
In modern versions and those endorsed by the Chapel, Floree does not take part in the combat. Another version of well known, though whether it was the original or an addition is not known. In this version Floree is instrumental to the defeat of Ram - she fights with Mithani from the beginning, fully aware that if he does not take up arms then peace will never be accomplished. She strikes a decisive blow against Ram, injuring his leg, allowing Mithani to pass through his guard to strike him with his antlers. In modern tellings, Mithani's strength alone is sufficient to best Ram.
