The House of Callian
The House of Callian is physically more like a boat with a shack. It is one of the only known permanent structures inside any of the wandering wilds, but it is only vaguely known. The shack is wooden, a motley construction made from Stature Trees (wooden planks for the shack itself, and dried leaves/thistles to make the thatch roof), with a boat shaped bottom for when the wilds shift into watery terrains.
The wandering wilds are not a friendly place to live, and in a realm where most people openly dislike magic, there are many rumors about the Callians and their residence. However, the Callians are actually a magical remedy cult. They are active magicians, which earns them an unfavorable reputation, but they are frequently used as a last resort for those with magical ailments.
Dagphi are the Callians’ most often clients, but they are also sought out by those with other ailments. Not all are magical illnesses, and so not all of their remedies are magical in nature either, but most are. They are skilled magicians and energy readers, and among the magical secret markets they are highly regarded as masters of the magical arts.
Anyone can join the Callians, but most who do have been their previous patients. Those who join are taught the ways of magic. Even pure Mortals may join, and they are given other tasks that don’t require magic, such as magical herb collection or non-magical healing.
The Callians are an old organization. No one is entirely sure how they first began, but most people think they are descendants of immortals from the Lower Realms. The magic they use is unknown to most people, a highly guarded secret even inside their ranks because it can be dangerous. It is an old magic, and they often don’t even use runeshapers to control it, making it easy for spells to go astray.
