Accelerated growth
Due to regular rainfalls, plenty of nutrition from the soil, and most plants having adapted to grow from rhyzomes, the underbrush (and, to a lesser extent, the canopy as well) of forests in The Wilds tends to fill all available space and regenerate extremely quickly, with fallen individuals replaced almost inmediately.
Disturbing tales circulate of rebels torturing or executing Conclave personnel by securing them in place over a young tree and having it grow through the victim's body. Tests on rebel prisoners proved the viability of this method, but its actual usage by rebels themselves is yet to be confirmed.
Albor cabalists have long tried to harness this rapid growth for its potential applications in human medicine.
Manifestation
Rhyzomes are root clusters from which several shoots may emerge. This has several implications.
First and foremost, the main stem of the plant is safe underground or at surface level, which makes it harder to kill. Deep inside it there are nutrients stored, and dormant shoots that will germinate only under the influence of hormones that are triggered by heat or stress. This way, if the upward-growing shoots are burned or cut down, new ones rise shortly after. It also permits horizontal spread, allowing species to steadily cover great areas without reliance in the survival of seeds.
In fact, seeds are barely used at all, except during an extremly rare event known as a "mass flowering", which takes place roughly every 100 years. When this happens, plants of a particular species will collectively start devoting all their energy and resources to the production of a large ammount of seeds, which will then fill the air in a spectacular display. Exhausted, the original plants will then die, making room for the seedlings to grow. This is done so that even if predators eat as many seeds as they can, there will be more than enough left to birth the next generation of plants. In the intervals between flowerings, predator species starve and die, controlling the population. However, right after a flowering rodent numbers boom, which then flood human settlements, and bring with them famine and an array of various diseases.
Localization
Plant shoots grow at a rate of roughly 1 meter per day, focusing on size first and generating bark and wood later. This makes expeditions into the wilderness that last more than a day extremely dangerous, since the road cleared on the way in may not be so upon return.
Farther away from Conclave settlements, where human interference is lower, this happens even faster. In the CAI, frequent raids disrupt the natural cycle of plants generating temporary patches of open land, but these also grow back after a short while because most people do not know to destroy the rhyzomes, or have no way to do so. However, the forest stops at the border of cities. It is speculated Natura focuses on fighting these incursions into her territory, but has limited influence where civilization is more present.
