The Greying Wildlands

Welcome to the Greying wildlands! A west marches style DnD adventure set outside the northern borders of the Dwendalen empire on the continent of Wildemount.
West Marches is a label given to a style of DnD game created by game developer Ben Robbins. There are several great reads on the style of game including an in depth article from the creator himself
Robbins wanted to:
1) Solve the problem of the weekly meet up. With adult lives, sessions are bound to be missed, leaving the DM to awkwardly explain away the characters absence for the session and subsequent return having missed plot and progression.
2) Allow for a larger group of friends to play within the same game.
And finally
3) Keep the players invested in pushing the story themselves instead of getting into the rut of just showing up and passively waiting for the DM to put content in front of them.
In order to do this he did away with the weekly session. And instead let the pool of players schedule a game in a chat. With a persistent map of an untamed land filled with danger and adventure for the players to begin to fill out. It was a sort of DM on demand situation, where players would say I want to go explore these ruins on Friday night, anyone want to come? Can we get a dm? and a party and game would be formed.
Our adventure sets within the traders post town of Shady Creek Run, some 40 miles north of the Qwanna Breach, the northern border of the Dwendalin empire. This Outpost set up by the Traders Union is the first step in creating a trade route to the Dwarves of Uthodurn in the Floket Alps far north. They hire and invite adventurers by the wagonload to begin clearing this deadly route through the cursed Savalirwoods and beyond.
And that is where you come in, adventurer, punched your ticket to the wild north for fortune and glory. Surrounded by those looking to get rich or just escape, it is dangerous work but the coin is here, good luck and welcome to the Greying Wildlands!
