Pledge for WorldEmber 2023
I recently joined World Anvil (in October 2023) and I just barely heard of WorldEmber. Honestly, I think the event will help me start off with the world I'm creating, so why not participate?
I never created a full world like this, and even if the world I'm creating is heavely inspired by D&D, it's still a lot to manage and condense everything for people to learn and be curious about. English isn't my native language so, I'm also scared by the lack of vocabulary as well. Imagining the structures is kind of new and a bit scary at times but... what's there to lose?
The world of the Misfits is a setting made by multiple game masters, and I am one of them! My main work would be to gather all that was specified in our campaign for players to read, for game masters to use and for curious peeps to read!
Week 1: Pledge
The Guild of Misfits and Majesty is filled with adventurers and characters of all kinds. Cities or villages contact the Guild in times of needs but... how does it work?
Word Count Goal
Honestly, I think sticking to 10 000 words is good for now. It's my very first time doing this event and I don't know how big or how few that is. Though, I have a lot to start with so, I think it shouldn't be too complicated.
Area of Focus
My main focus would be the Guild in itself, the internal structure of it, the characters in it, the locations of notes. Alternatively, I wanted to also prepare for the mechanical aspects of the campaign and finish the implementations of the Feats, Backgrounds, Races, Classes and Subclasses that are available for our group. If I have some time, I'll expand on the universe in itself.
Week 2: World Assembling
Mini-meta
The scope is rather small. I'm just going to focus simply on the Guild since it's the main focus of the story and where it all starts. The theme will be pretty neutral, with a bit of sillyness since the Guild isn't the best structured place in this universe. Some things will be out of place intentionally. I guess it's a good mix between serious and silly. Some story events will be added.
Organizing
I think it might be interesting to create the world written by the POV of someone working for the Guild, like an intern. I don't know yet it I want to commit to it but it will help when it comes to things that the Guild isn't certain about. That might be fun to do.
Week 3: Readers
Homepage
I'll edit with a good palette and universe once I'm done finding one. I'm going to try to make it easy for people to navigate. I consider that most of the readers will be players of our campaigns but I welcome each curious readers on this page!
Week 4: Preparation
Last minute check!
Welp, I guess I'll get ready to write stuff. A bit overwhelmed I think, but I hope it'll be in a good way. I'll probably clean my desk cause it is a mess. One of the things I like to do while I'm working is listening to music or podcasts so, I'll prep some of it as well.
I don't typically treat myself with treats but it could be nice to do.
