Old Boy

"Old Boy" is a custom-made guitar built on old earth for a famous rock guitarist, "Iommi". The paint and lacquer partially peeled from the surface, giving it a worn and weathered appearance. Iommi owned and played the guitar until his death in the first half of the 21st century on Earth. Rumors of the band being devil-worshippers persisted and fueled the mythology around the guitar (which was rumored to contain Iommi's soul). None of the rumors are true of course, but the Maplewood used to make the guitar body was taken from a sacred Druid grove near Stonehenge and held latent magical energies.

Over the centuries the guitar traveled across the cosmos in the hands of various musicians, slowly becoming exposed to magical energies in other parts of the universe. Eventually, it ended up on the Orion and was lost for almost a century. In reality, it had been stolen from a careless human teen and taken to Nothing and Nowhere.

A satyr took the guitar through a rift into Nothing and Nowhere. During one of his trips back to the Orion, the Satyr was killed in a drunken brawl and the guitar ended up in a pawn shop where it was bought by Jester's Kiss (Night Owl).

The exposure to the magic of Nothing and Nowhere for decades caused the latent magical energy to eventually grow and manifest. The result is the unique spell-like qualities available to a bard who is attuned to the instrument.
