The High Forest is perhaps one of the most ancient cradles of mortal civilizations. The birthplace of the Elven empire of Earlaan, Where the Netherese Empire learned their magic, and where Ancient Dragons have made their lairs. This forest has seen more mortal lives come and go than perhaps any other on the Material Plane, and now it is time for you to make your mark upon it.   After The events of the last campaign, over 500 years have passed, and the characters you once knew have ascended into Legend. The sole survivor of the Flock of the Morninglord is Aelith Reynar, founder of the Barovian Holy Order, and pioneer of New Earlann. Aelith has spent hundreds of years working with the Elven people and her various allies to begin a great migration to the High Forest. Driving back Demons, Devils, Orcs, and Gnolls, her progress has been long and slow.   When you begin the adventure, Wood Elves will have reentered the forest in unprecedented numbers, and a new Golden Age of Elven kind is beginning, though not all is well in the Forest. Wild Elves and the many Fey are wary of these new Elves and Humans entering their forest. Orcs and Gnolls, having been driven from land considered their own are growing angrier by the day, and forces better left untouched are beginning to stir.   This would be less concerning, if not for the most recent change to the many Planes of Existence, as Mephistopheles, with the aid of his Hellfire Elemental Titan, has burned the layer of Nessus to a crisp, and usurped Asmodeus. In accordance with his pact forged with the angels, he reworked the Pact Primeval, restricting the influence of devils in the Material Plane. Though with his twisted wording, he tricked the gods into much the same predicament. Clerics and Paladins have found their gods silent when they were once vocal, and some have begun wondering if they truly ever existed at all...
