the trials of the tower are a series of challenges that people have to go through in order to make it easier for them to be hired by the guilds, it's used for scouting potential recruits and also gives the users abilities for them to be easily hired once the trials are completed.
the first phase of trials is judged as groups. individuals must complete these trials in order to move to phase two :
instinct: to test their killer mentality. creativity: to open their mind and express themselves freely for teamwork.  problem-solving: to test their ability to their mind to solve puzzles as a team. hard work: to test a work ethic.  the final trial: all at once, 
the second phase of trials is judged individually.
