A Beautiful Nightmare

Strewn about the room were the remnants of the night, clothes, bodies of mortals and vampires alike and of course blood. It would be the first of its kind, a proper Sabat party that would not only define the organization for the future, but scar it in the eyes of the Camarilla forever. This was more than a masquerade breach, it was down right an outing of vampires in the city of London. A spark of war that would in time echo in the night from this point forth.   Grimwalds eyes opened, the shadows from the fire burning at the center of this chapel danced on the ceiling. His recollection of the nights events blurry at best, the taste of blood giving him but brief reminding flashes. Ellen stood over him half naked “Come on sweetheart, its time to go”. He took a moment, as the memories started coming back to him.   It started like a rather unusual social occasion, rowdy strange vampires experiencing their first nights amidst groupings of a few older kindred who seemed to have more control over their graces. They made jokes, laughed hardily, rough housing with fangs springing out on occasion. They walked through South London like they owned the place, as if Vampires lived in the open. Some that saw them, ran in fear, others brave enough shouted insults from their windows at the spectacle but as the gang walked by it did little to discourage their behavior. Eventually they walked into a more secluded area of town, surrounded by a cemetery with several smaller monasteries circulating one very large chapel. As they arrived at the front door of a chapel it was clear that a midnight mass was in progress, the place was packed, but the doors closed with the sound of Christian choir singing.   The atmosphere of the brood switched, their predatory instincts kicking in bringing about a sudden silence. Marcel stood by Grimwald who appeared as if he was about to ask a question, but Marcel did little else but give him a rather odd look, hand him a small vial as he simply said “Entrance Fee”. The onlookers were many, including Ellen and Kathrine. Marcel was clearly not asking a question.   Finally Ellen broke the silence “Its a kind of new tradition”, her words were not welcomed. Marcel clearly did not want Grimwald to have any information about the strange liquid, he relished the idea of making the great Grimwald do something he clearly resented.   As Grimwald considered the strange liquid, the rest pulled out their own vials, including Ellen, Katherine and Marcel. Katherine looked at Grimwald and while her face covered by a scarf was not visible, her eyes gave away the hidden smile beneath as she said “Cheers”. She pulled off her scarf revealing the hideous scar that ran from her throat to the tip of her nose. It was half a face, missing where her lips and most of her mouth with the the skull protruding. She opened the vial and dumped the dark liquid directly into her throat. The others joined in and clearly having few options, Grimwald drank it too.   Unclear what to expect it was definitely not this. From the inside his blood began to boil, he was suddenly starving for blood, horny like a teenager on prom and enraged. It was a combination of perfectly tuning his predatory instincts and losing complete control at the same time. It was love, hate, murder and faith all in a single unfiltered emotion.   Some young vampire swung open the door to the chapel, at first their was a surprising silence, then the screaming began. The smell of blood hit Grimwalds senses and as if he was a freshly embraced vampire about to have his first meal, he could not help but smile. He felt alive, free of the burdens of responsibility and the fear of repercussions. Tonight he would be a vampire for the first time in his life.
