Nathaniel Simmons
For some, Nathaniel Simmons is a forward thinking vampire who has always been ahead of his time, others consider him a heretic that should have been put down ages ago. This reputation began from the moment he arrived in the late 16th century kicking off his career as a vampire that would stir up the norms by announcing himself and a werewolf friend of his at the Anarch Elysium of the time. The purpose of this invitation to werewolves according to Nathaniel was to create information exchange as a first step to creating some semblance of a peace process to the otherwise completely indifferent werewolves. To the surprise of pretty much everyone in the city, the Anarch council agreed to let the werewolf in, triggering a first ever in the history of vampire-wolf relationships.
The events of the of the mid 16th century saw the dissolved of the Anarch council and the rise of the Camarilla, whatever Nathaniel was working on it would never come to fruition as to the Camarilla the idea of working with werewolves in any capacity was unacceptable. While the wolves left the city and the negotiations whatever they were came to nothing, Nathaniel stayed in the city and has continued to advocate for peace with the werewolves of England putting him in the precarious position of sounding like a heretic to the very closed minded and old fashion Camarilla.
Nathaniel however has a charming personality and he appears to be legitimately working on trying to resolve the many issues created by the hostility with wolf tribes, in particular around London where they have been known to murder vampires on the outskirts of the city and famously once they attacked a train in the middle of the night heading to Edinburgh killing two visiting vampire dignitaries reminding everyone that there is no such thing as a safe way to travel. It is questionable however when you actually ask the question "why?"
Why would werewolves want to work with Vampires, what is there motivation, how does it benefit them and what exactly do they wish to accomplish. According to Nathaniel it is simply the very benign effort for peace, though it does not make much sense given that the attacks and deaths have for the most part been one directional, werewolves killing vampires. It is indeed that you hear of it going the other way and to the Camarilla and the vampires of London this never ending centuries old threat has made most vampires hostile towards the idea of peace.
Nathaniel however continues to be an advocate for werewolf-vampire relations and though he does this in a manner befitting of a vampire living under Camarilla rule with the proper respect, most consider him something of an outcast with a less then reputable intention. The assumption is that he is up to something devious.
To prove himself Nathaniel has become something of an expert in times of blood hunt, in fact, by most accounts, each time there has been a blood hunt it came to a conclusion either as a result of information provided to the sheriff by Nathaniel or directly by his hand. Nathaniel has proven to be an asset when it comes to tracking down missing vampires and he is widely regarded to be the most likely vampire to track down and bring to justice the child vampire known as the Ripper, though to this day, the creature has eluded even Nathaniels considerable skill.
He is not without friends entirely however and it is indeed his association with some key reputable vampires in the city that might give any vampire thinking of acting against him pause. Arthur Halesworth refers to him as a friend, Theo Bell is a known personal associate and he very well may be the only vampire in the city that Herbert Westin has ever listened to.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
Its clear that Nathaniel is highly motivated to create some sort of line of communication between Kindred and Wolf society, its presumed that he has personal relationships with werewolves, but his success with convincing the Camarilla elite at least so far has fallen on def ears.
Gangrel vampires are becoming more common in cities then at any other time in the history of organized vampire society. Its unclear why this is happening, but the once wild outdoor lifestyles that most gangrel vampires have had is becoming a stereotype of the past by the 19th century.
