Great Horned Gloat

The Great Horned Gloat is a cross between several gastropods and crustaceans. It seemed to have start appearing more frequently after "The Melding". They can be found around the coast of Holdt, but the water around the Siamese Islands seems to have a higher concentration of them.

Basic Information

Biological Traits

The Great Horned Gloat is a master of close quarter combat. They have 2 large pincers capable of crimping the end of a cannon shut. They are able to be fought off easily in small numbers, but they can quickly swarm and they are hard to predict in the water. Their entire body emits a mucus that becomes stiff as it dries out, making run ins with them a drawn out ordeal. Lastly, if they feel threated, they can retreat into their shell with their signature horns coming down to seal them away. If one does go into its shell, its best to leave it, they have been recorded to go weeks inside if they sense the danger is still outside. Furthermore, the shells can't be cracked and boiling them seem to make no difference.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Carnivorous, they consume all sorts of sea creatures that they can get their claws on and any land creature unfortunate enough to get close enough to the water.
