The Hand and Eye of Arkhan

Seldom is the name of Arkhan spoken except in a hushed voice. Arkhan was, in his time, one of the mightiest of all wizards. Through dark magic and conquest, he forged a terrible empire. For all his power, Arkhan couldn’t escape his own mortality. He began to fear death and take steps to prevent his end from ever coming about. Arkhan found in his studies a ritual to preserve his body and soul through countless deaths: lichdom. Beyond death, he became the greatest of all liches. Even though his body gradually withered and decayed, Arkhan continued to expand his evil dominion. So formidable and hideous was his temper that his subjects feared to speak his name. He was the Whispered One, the Undying King, the Great Usurper, and the Lord of the Rotted Tower.   Soon, through further study, Arkhan found the ritual of ascension and rose to the rank of godhood before his fellow pantheon had time to realize his intentions. He joined the Betrayer God's war against mortals and sought to raze everything the gods stood for to ash and rebuild them as legions of his own. Eventually, Celestor and the Raven, Lamb, and Wolf felled the Whispered One at the height of the Calamity. Of Arkhan, all that remained were one hand separated into six fingers and one eye, grisly artifacts that still seek to work the Undying King’s will in the world.   The Eye of Arkhan and the Hand of Arkhan might be found together or separately. The eye looks like a bloodshot organ torn free from the socket, it's iris malformed into a crimson red nonagon. The hand is a mummified and shriveled right extremity with six appendages.
