Law of Uniquity
A strange occurance of magic in which imbuing a object made from natural materials with a magical ability can not then be repeated on any other natural material. This is most commonly an issue of Canes, as Rods which are normally made from stone or metal do not have this restriction.
This can be quite troubling for newer magicians attempting to create a new improvement only to find the spell does not take, meaning that such a spell is already in use elsewhere.
