Twilight Realm
Tell me… Do you ever feel a strange sadness as dusk falls? They say it’s the only time when our world intersects with theirs… The only time we can feel the lingering regrets of spirits who have left our world. That is why loneliness always pervades the hour of twilight…A vast expanse between the Light World and The Dark World encased in diffused light and perpetual darkness. Solitary, floating islands of dark stone crop up throughout this liminal space, forming the Kingdom of the Twili.
Geography
A place of sorrow, the Twilight Realm is mostly empty, save for islands of dark stone known as Brón. These islands form relative to where intense sadness gathers in the Materia Realm, usually near graveyards or battlefields. Within a brón, a sense of hope in the Materia Realm causes a shining energy to be produced called Sols. The Twili have developed a way to encase this rare resource and provide a synthetic light to the bróns. It is also used to power a variety of technologies within the Twilight Realm.
The largest brón is Riach Brón, which has the Castle of Twilight built upon it.
Localized Phenomena
Due to the Twilight Realms proximity to the Dark Realm, the denizens of the realm are at constant risk of being consumed by their darker, beastial inclinations. Spending too much time in the darkness can cause a creature unprotected by Sols to become a shadowy beast of their true self. Extended periods in such a form can become permanent. As such, the various brón use a Sols Orb to bathe their lands in hope.
History
While the realm existed long before any history, it was not until the conclusion of the Interloper War and the banishment of the Interlopers through the Mirror of Twilight that any documented history began. The Interlopers brought with them a knowledge of stone carving and construction, which they used to construct the first settlement at Riach Brón. Originally called Remorse, it would become the seat of the Kingdom of the Twili as they grew and populated the realm.
