Agandour's Lost Journal
A thick, leather-bound journal covered in a heavy layer of dust, the book seems remarkably well preserved despite its clearly archaic origins.
Whatever enchantment that would have discouraged unwanted readers has long since faded away, and based on the more recent wear on the book's pages and ink it looks like the enchantments preserving it from the elements have been severely weakened as well.
Within the book, its blank pages of papyrus have been mostly filled in with a tight, controlled hand writing out its thoughts enthusiastically in a dark blue ink. The words on the page are written in The Alvain Dialect of The Ancient Language but the name written within the front cover of the book is recognizable even in it's archaic alphabet.
"Agandour"
Purpose
Following the exodus of the Dragons from Altwaus, many alvain chose to explore and map the world that they now found themselves stewards over. While most of these charts were eventually collected and amalgamated into the earliest known maps of Altwaus, other documents were never recovered due to neglect, disinterest, distrust, or in the case of Agandaur's Lost Journal, the documents were lost when the alvain responsible for them simply never returned to their fellow alvain.
An avid writer in his time, Agandaur's journals and maps focused on his explorations of the far east forests of Altwaus were eagerly awaited by his contemporaries. However as the centuries wore onwards it became less and less likely that Agandaur , and with him his journals, would ever be seen again.
Document Structure
Publication Status
Believed to be lost when Agandaur was likely destroyed during his explorations, the journal in all likelihood was disintegrated along with Agandaur's body. Because of this, Agandaur never published his final journal, and the work of his last centuries of life remained unfinished and unpublished.
It is possible that the journal did survive, however, and that the enchantments woven into its pages could have protected it from the elements over the past millennia. With each passing year, however, the chances of the book being discovered grow less and less likely.
Historical Details
Legacy
Due to Agandaur never finishing his altas of Altwaus, the exploration and ultimately settlement of what would become commonly known as [The Kaldari Highlands would take thousands of years longer than the more western settled regions.
Fearful that they too might follow the ill fate of Agandaur, most alvain simply refused to stride too far into the east, and it wasn't until human settlement thousands of years after Agandaur's journey that the lands he lost his life in became explored in any relevant manner.
