While both The Collegiate Arcane and The Pantheon Of The Goddess have their own theories and beliefs about the concept of "afterlife" the truth of the matter is that little is truly known about what happens to a creatures body, spirit, and soul at their passing. 
What is known however, is that after passing some races leave behind a trace of themselves as a magical echo is the weave of the world. The exact nature of these "ghosts" is unknown and mired with superstition and guess work - however anecdotes have varied greatly in their description of these specters and their capabilities. Whether or not these specters are truly the remaining consciousness of their former selves, or merely a magical scar left in the world after their departure is a secret likely never to be understood fully.
