Divination
The Whispered Secrets of Past, Present, and Future
By far the most mysterious and least understood field of magic, Divination Magic is directly related to the acquisition, distribution, and protection of information. Considered by The Collegiate Arcane to be an either immorally dangerous or downright fraudulent school of magic it is not officially recognized by the Collegiate or the Empire as a whole - however the Bishops of The Pantheon Of The Goddess speak confidently that they the Goddess evokes her will upon them through means that would certainly fall under the definition of Divination Magic.
At it's most rudimentary level, simple Divination spells have been replicated successfully by Operating Enchantments in the form of objects like Oracle Spheres and Sending Stones. Such objects are able to witness and discriminant visual or audio information across paired objects in the world in a manner to transit messages or information to an await party on the other side. Some are even able to cling to such information for periods of time for later recollection and retelling - forming a magical "record" of visual or audio information in the form a Divination Enchantment. If such spells are to be considered "true" Divination magic then they are the spellcasting equivalent to a wooden training sword and rendered mundane or even beneath mentioning to the true masters of Divination Magic.
Of all the forms of Magic, Divination is the most tied to that of Divine Magic, and in this fact is where the Magical Discipline earns it's distrust and even disbelief from The Eternal Empire. History is scattered with stories of raving madmen or con-artists who claim to have beyond great witness to the words of Celestials, Synmatre, or even The Goddess herself. Most, if not all of these claims were later proven false or misleading - leading to many to suspect those who claim to wield Divination Magic (whether willingly or not) with mistrust. In truth however, Divination Magic is the Divine method of communication, and the Collegiate knows better than most how dark rituals and sacrifices to the dark powers beyond The Glass Veil can lead to shadowy whispers of things no being on Alwaus was ever meant to know.
The Collegiate does it's best to understand and assure the empire that they are the stewards and masters of this untamed world, but Divination Magic has always been the soft whisper in the corner of their minds - reminding them of both their insignificance and how little of this world they truly understand...
Communicating Magically Over Great Distances - Non-contact Telepathic Communication, Weaving words into the gusts of wind, and Scrying over great distances are all forms of Divination Magic.
Using Magic To Directly Gain Information - Consulting with Spirits and Celestials for answers, Reading the Future through rituals, and Interpreting Dreams are all forms of Divination Magic being used to gain information about the world of Alwaus and those who live in it.
Communicating With Celestials or Synmatre - The Glass Veil shields Alwaus from the Creator's magic. Communing with Celestials or Synmatre can only be done through powerful Divination Magic - most often cast from the ancient beings themselves.
