Though only a handful of such whistles are said to exist, they were originally a gift by the Elves to Human, Orc, Gnomish, and even a select few Dwarish commanders after the Dragon Wars. Most believe the claims the whistle can drive away even a mighty dragon are patently false. Yet, many stories exist of the device doing exactly that. Once per day, blowing the whistle creates a supernatural dragon roar. The particular roar is identical to that of the Great Dragon Rex Shaarina and seems to echo from no particular reference point. Any dragon hearing this sound must make a Daunting (XXXX) fear check as an out-of turn incidental, as per page 243 of the GENESYS CORE RULEBOOK. Failing the check, a dragon will quickly depart the area, ending the encounter (though they may return later, especially if they feel they were duped).
