Your character is financially destitute, either from a lack of employment, poor financial decisions, or perhaps even a blatant disinterest in the fuedal-capitalist system that civilized Alwaus relies on. Your character half only spend half the normal amount (250 Silver in most games) worth of starting equipment during Character Creation.
