Some weapons (like most firearms) create loud, audible noises when activated that echo out beyond the confines of their immediate area. When a weapon with the Loud quality is used, all adversaries within extreme range can hear the sound of the weapon, and if they success on a Perception check, are able to determine the location the noise originated from. The GM has final say on which NPC's are within range to hear the weapon, as well as the difficulty of each check to determine it's location (or even if such a check is required)
