This item is more of a magical implement than an enchanted item in and of itself. Still, as it isn’t very portable, most wizards keep it in their place of solitude for working new magic. While most detection and divination type spells are in the Utility spell action, there are sometimes occasions where the difficulty of such magic exceeds the Easy (X) restriction of the Utility spell type. In these cases, a Scrying implement can help. The Mirror is simply one example of such an implement and using such an implement reduces the difficulty of the desired action by two (to a minimum of Easy). Specific detection and divination spells are given in the TIMMORRAN’S TOME supplement. As Utility spells typically do not allow for Additional Spell effects, there is an exception with such Utility-focused implements (also see Crystal Balls, Scrying Pools, etc.) and these additional effects are provided in this entry. Without such an implement, the magic exceeds the ability of this spell action.
