Murlock Activities

While attacking shipping vessels is certainly not an unheard of activtiy of the Murlock, the nature of their primal assault of the ship seems unual for their normal snatch and grab raids on merchant ships. What could the murlock hope to gain by attacking a lumber hauling vessel, and who was the strange murlock who seemed to command the very air around them with chaotic magic?
