Pressurized Blackpowder
Name : Pressurized Blackpowder Cylinder
Encum : 2
Price : 400
Rarity : 8
Instability : None
Craftsmanship : Standard
Special : Fragile
Originally designed to support gunnery mechanics for the large-framed ironclads used for war, Pressurized Blackpower Cylinders have seen use on personal size firearms as well, albeit at significant risk to both the firearm and it's wielder. If a Pressurized Blackpowder Cylinder is punctured or damaged, it releases a thick cloud of impenetrable black smoke. The smoke fills an area of short range, providing concealment worth 3 dice (see page 110 of the GENESYS Core Rulebook), and dissipates at the end of the next round. A character may take a maneuver to attach an Pressurized Blackpowder Cylinder to their compatible gunnery weapon. The GM has final say as to which firearms are compatible, but most pistols, rifles, and heavy weapons are compatible. Once the Cylinder is attached, the next shot the character fires gains the Breach 1 quality or increases an existing Breach quality by one (and ignores any existing Pierce quality). After firing the Cartridge, the weapon is damaged by one step. Highly volatile, should the Pressurized Blackpowder Cylinder take direct damage or have it's temperature raised enough to combust the powders it immediately detonates dealing 8 Force Damage to whoever is currently holding the Cylinder, plus an additional 5 Force Damage to anyone within short range of the Cylinder when it detonates.
