When carrying a weapon or wearing armour and gear with the Prestige quality, increase your character's Social Status by the highest rank of Prestige available to them. This means that a character with a Social Status of 4 wearing an armour with Prestige 1, a piece of gear with Prestige 1, and a weapon with Prestige 2 would increase their prestige by 2 to a total of 6 - not by 4 to a total of 8.
