Carefully calibrated and finely tuned, a well designed and maintained scope on a high end long rifle is capable of accurately outdistancing even the most skilled archer with a long bow - firing at such extreme distances that the sniper needs to adjust for the very curvature of the world. Once thought of merely as a cheap substitute for a bow in trained hands, advancements that make the scoped rifle possible are just the first of many improvements that will no doubt cause firearms to render their more traditional counterparts obsolete. The instruments and lenses that the rifle rely on lack durability unfortunately, and if they are disturbed in teh head of a fight the scope becomes no more useful than a Spyglass.
