Wrap the end of a length of wood in cloth, dip it in pitch or tar, and light it. The resulting torch should burn for an hour or so, and is a simple way to light up the darkness.


A lit torch provides light and removes b added to checks due to darkness. (If it becomes important to determine how far the light reaches, a torch can provide light out to short range.)
