Venomtongue Root
This small, off-yellow root vegetable is something like a wild carrot in taste and texture, but is considerably toxic when eaten in it's raw form. Once cooked however, the toxicity is neutralized and it has a subtle taste that easily takes up the flavors of other dishes it is cooked with. The roots toxicity has some interesting effects on human physiology if consumed in trace amounts, and it is sometimes added in its raw form to the bottom of whiskeys and rums to enhance the taste of the alcohol while giving its intoxication effects an extra kick.
