Box Trolls

Box trolls are sneaky creatures, nocturnal and stealthy they only appear during the hours of the night. They hide from the other races, by dwelling in the lost catacombs of the world.
Box Trolls are curious creatures, they'll often stop to look at something shiny or something that peaks their interest. While not sociable outside their own race, Box Trolls are very sociable with each other, acting almost like a hive mind, Box Trolls have a semi-telepathic link to each other.

Appearance

Little is known of the Box Trolls facial appearance, however they share the same physique as most humanoid creatures do. Box Trolls earn their name, by the strange social norm of wearing a box or a paper bag over top their head, hiding their face from the outside world, only a rare few adventurers have been privy to the knowledge of the appearance of Box Trolls, however none have revealed the sight they were to behold.

Box Trolls mature more slowly than regular humanoids, a Box Troll is not considered an adult until it's 150th year.

Their ideal habitat is underground in dark spaces that they themselves have hollowed out. However some have come to call the sewers home.

As a close knit society, the Box Trolls can often be found creating and forging new things from old junk they find in scrapyards on the surface. One man's junk in another man's treasure as they say. Inventive and creative the catacombs of this world house crazy machinery designed to increase productivity and for simple fun. Box Trolls are raised by the community, often times not knowing who their parents are, as all the adults raise them together.
Acting almost like a hive-mind the Box Trolls are all equal to each other, all having a say in the decisions of the community. A mayor is nominated anonymously by writing down a name and voting for them in the ballot. The mayor is a mere representative, they speak of the issues being had and is the one to speak to if any issues occur however do not have the ability to pass judgement until all Box Trolls have had their say.
