Ignis Hominum

Ignis Hominum is a sub-species of humans, having been born with a special gene that runs fire through their veins instead of blood, they have the special ability to create and control fire at their fingertips.

Before The Slaughter

Ignis Hominum were a peaceful people, having to spill blood in order to use their ability most chose to simply forget about its existence, hard enough as it was. Every full moon, the fiery substance would leak from their eyes burning them and causing numerous fires, as such they often lived separated from other humanoid species, in small communities that works around the clock to prevent unnecessary blood spills. A small cut could cause a wild fire in the lands of Aragor. They were a careful people, until the hunt began.

Appearance

Like tiny humans, Ignis Hominum looked like normal people except for their small stature, an adult could often get away with posing as a child if they so wanted. Most would have burn marks on their face, as if they had cried molten lava, from the events of the full moon. Clumsy or careless Ignis Hominum would carry burns from the times they cut themselves by accident, and those with a more nefarious nature could be found with burn marks all over their arms and hands from various cuts.

Biological Cycle

Ignis Hominum appear as small humans, almost childlike they don't often exceed 4' tall. Otherwise human, Ignis Hominum's cells undergo a rapid change through puberty, in which their blood is boiled and burnt away being replaced by a substance that resembles fire. Their powers would grow stronger during the hotter months of summer and dul during the colder months of winter.

Civilization and Culture

History

Ignis Hominum are feared throughout their home land, decades ago, an Ignis Hominum used their power to reap havoc and destruction on the land, brutalizing cities, ravaging towns and murdering masses of people. In fear for their lives, the kingdoms banded together to exterminate the sub-human species once and for all. They slaughtered children, destroyed families and left no stone unturned. The extermination took years, many Ignis Hominum were able to escape living ordinary lives by covering their veins with an earthly dye, however in the end the kingdoms got them all, and they were all but forgotten.
Then a year after the dust settled and the world was over patting itself on the back, a young girl emerged in the largest capitol of the continent of Aragor. Orphaned from the war, she appeared as a human and had not received her powers so was left and forgotten. Having been consumed by her emotions her flames burst from her in a rage, covering the city in fire. The smell of burning flesh could be smelt for miles around as the kingdom fell to ruins, her flames burnt so bright and so hot that only the hardest of stone buildings remained, in her last moments of life she dared the king of the capitol, who had started the slaughter, to escape her wrath.
And in his ignorance and fear, he led his kingdom to ruin, becoming known as the King of Slaughter, he died the way he lived, with burning hatred running through his veins.
