Wagler Chordata

Wagler Chordata aka Owl-kin are an avian race of humanoids that have grown to the resemblance of a species of bird found throughout The Impaled Planet. Although resembling this bird they have however lost the capabilities for flight for the usefulness of opposable thumbs.

Male Owl-kin come in an array of colours, from grim blacks, to vibrant reds and multi-coloured, male Owl-kin often use their attractive colours as mating displays to attract partners. The females, take on earthly tones. Each possess sharp talons that when backed into a corner can be useful weaponry, and in history when the Owl-kin were a feared militant power, was used s such. Though they don't possess wings, feathers drape from their arms to form an almost web-like covering that helps them when falling from great heights. Like a bat, these large feathers connect from their arms to their torso's, you'll often find Owl-kin wearing tunics or flowing dresses to accommodate this.

Societal Values

Owl-kin are an isolated people that prefer not to interfere with other nations or societies, they value discretion and discreteness. They are often used as intermediaries for the impartial nature and are seen as a wise and knowledgeable race. Institutes that focus on knowledge and research are funded and built all throughout the Owl-kin nation. A primary education facility was founded in their capitol, a massive multi-story building built directly into the husk of an ancient oak. Once a large and magical tree that had deep connections with the land, it was drained of its life energy in a war many centuries ago. Upon discovering this ancient oak, the Owl-kin settled in this land and expanded their territory outwardly with the ancient oak acting as their capitol at the center of their nation.

Government

A council of elders rules over this species and ties all the various factions together taking in the voices of the population before making any drastic choices that affect the ways of the people or their lives. A new councilman has been named in a recent election, loved by all, Smitten, has an understanding of the needs of the people unlike any of the previous council. His election was quick and swift, rising seemingly out of nowhere, his campaign gathered the hearts of the Owl-kin. A rising rebellion has formed within the lower educated populace, though small they present themselves as a well organized. The leader of the rebellion has yet the be identified, but a few small crooks have been apprehended and are currently under investigation.   Although the Owl-kin are usually impartial to most kingdoms, they have a close relationship with an neighbouring kingdom (insert name when created), having been aided when disaster struck. Without the help of the kingdom, the Owl-kin may have been wiped from the planet. This however has caused some resentment among the other neighbouring kingdoms, as of yet though, no kingdom has made a move against the nations or spoken out.
