Goliaths

Goliaths are massive, hulking, tattooed people hailing from the far northern seas, with the largest known population residing on the isle of Vohirheim. Goliaths usually stand around 7 to 8 feet tall and weigh between 280 and 340 pounds and are also naturally strong and durable, even being able to shrug off injury at times. Goliath lifespans are comparable to that of humans. Reaching adulthood in their late teens and living for less than a century.   A large part of Goliath culture is steeped in war and physical prowess. Goliath youth are regularly encouraged to spar with each other to improve their combat skills and prepare for adulthood where they'll begin to take part in raiding packs. Goliath are notorious for their raiding parties and are feared for being exceptional warriors. Northern city-states on Aurend and maritime nations on Wracias such as Cossos lose a number of cargo ships every year to these raids.   Another thing that is increadibly important to Goliath culture are their tattoos. Goliath youths receive their first tattoos at 6 years of age and these first tattoos are to mark things like parentage and clan affiliation. They also receive another set of tattoos at the age of 16 as a mark of adulthood after going through a rite of passage that usually involves some form of hunting of a predator animal, and then throughtout their life they will receive more tattoos as marks of acheivement for things like acts of valor or the taking of a large haul on a raid.
