Cataline Royce

Cataline Royce is the eldest child and only daughter of the artist Marcus Sergia. He produced mediocre oil portraits; his positioning as someone who went into the homes of nobles to paint their children made him far more valuable to someone like Roy Royce. He was executed when implicated in the Paper Sedition (the academic term given to the distribution of pamphlets around the capital to try and rouse the people into a political uprising in 985). By that time, Cataline hadn't spoken to him in years.
Cataline was married off to her husband at the age of nineteen. He was forty-six. Most people in their circle who know them both comment that the only reason Cataline gave Roy more than a single child was because they were blessed with twins.
Cataline is not a Royce and is largely seen in the social circles of noble Miercna as an outsider; a commoner who fell into this world by accident, someone who doesn't know the intricacies of the social networks the Royce family maintains. She's patronised and treated as a pet or someone to be pitied by most of the other nobles. She doesn't seem to have a single friend amongst the highest in society.
