Miriam Heafoc
Miriam is an intelligent, if aloof, noblewoman. She's a professor of history at the University of Miercna, and the head of the Heafoc family following the deaths of her father and mother. She's calm and even-tempered, apparently unbothered by anything.
Miriam has published several volumes of the history of Miercna. To the surprise of many, she was briefly imprisoned and interrogated after the publication of her second volume due to what the palace referred to as subversive messaging within the text (several chapters on the founding of Miercna contained details of non-human contributions to the city and the noble houses). However, she complied with the palace's demands, retracted her book and published an edited copy instead, along with a public apology.
Since then she's kept out of trouble. She looks after her brother, Colm Heafoc, and teaches history. Her students know that her great ambition is to one day visit Abhaile and The Grand Necropolis for primary sources, but she seems content to stay in Miercna until then.
