Pamphlet 6
If the bounty of the world is given from the goddess as a gift to the peoples, why is the church able to conquer lands, dispose of their native inhabitants, and take those resources given freely to all?
In holding the lands, the emperor claims to hold the people within them. But all this is is alienation of people from their homes and ways of life. They have not truly entered into a social contract with him; this is nothing but invalid, illegitimate tyranny.
In a true and legitimate social body, we respect those who hold property as trustees of public property. Or, if people unite before they possess anything they decide to hold the land in common, that land is divided freely amongst themselves as was true of the lizardfolk of the Southern Reaches before their civilisation was destroyed in the Razing of the Reaches in 604AG.
The right of the individual over his land is subordinate to the will of the people. The emperor seizing lands from the people that live on them to take them for his own proves his disrespect and disregard for the people he gets his mandate from.
