Maro
Nearly a ghost town
A town built within the Edaio Rift, a canyon on the planet of Akiton.
Defences
Boasting one of the best natural defences in the Pact Worlds, Maro has little in the way of defensive technology and instead relies on more mundane narrow pathways and winding stairs.
Industry & Trade
Despite its current struggles, Maro remains a mining town - providing what Thasteron still demanded as well as other precious metals and gems.
Assets
Huge deposits of Thasteron remain in loosely guarded storehouses, and abandoned mining equipment litter the lowest levels.
History
Maro was the largest mine on Akiton before the demand for Thasteron dried up. The massive strain of unrefined material is still there, but with nobody willing to purchase it prospecting is a foolish endeavour. Like all mining towns, buildings were rapidly constructed to accommodate workers, company offices and merchants - and so the town of Maro was established.
Architecture
The walls of the Edaio Rift provide shelter to the more permanent denizens of Maro, protecting them from the burning heat and predators. The natural fortification of living within a crevasse also serves this defensive mindset - an assault on this city would be difficult indeed, even by orbital bombardment.
Geography
Situated within the world-spanning Edaio Rift.
Natural Resources
A huge strain of Thasteron is what drove a million prospectors here. It still remains, but with little demand for the material other ores are of more interest.
