The Moonshae Isles rise spectacularly from the western edge of the Sea of Swords, where that body of water succumbs to the vast and uncharted expanses of the Trackless Sea. The isles’ rocky terrain and misty forests – protected from intruders by terrible creatures and leagues of pirate-infested waters – are home to a diverse set of creatures each with their own risks of encounter. The climate of the Moonshae Isles is something that only a lifelong inhabitant could embrace. The same ocean currents that keep the temperatures from dropping below freezing too often in the winter months leave the land damp and cool in the summer. Rainfall is a constant companion. Both the land and surrounding waters are often fog-shrouded in the early morning and late evening. The nature of the archipelago that forms the Moonshaes is paradoxical: the seemingly simple and primeval beauty of the isles’ landscapes belies the complicated power struggles taking place there. From new laws limiting freedoms, to draft requirements and resetting of regional authorities, Moonshae politics are as fluid as the rolling seas from which the Isles rise. Outside the more civilized regions, threats are also abound in the Iles; from a prophesized calamity to return, the ever present increase in fey incursions to the treacherous seas in and around Moonshae, there are no easy steps in The Moonshae Isles....so tread carefully
