Grand Librarian Faustus, Iohannes --- SUMMARY

  • Consigned subject consists of a currency, numbering in circulation almost 8.3 trillion total individual units, used as a primary means of exchange in every known Isle and the vast majority of known civilizations. Said currency was created millennia ago, in the approximate year 69,340 BV, but did not achieve any reach beyond their originating territory until sometime around the middle 4th century AV, where a new standardized economy was instituted to replace previous stages of economic chaos that had occured in the centuries that led directly to the crises that ended in the Second Tirades, the deadliest known conflict in the history of the Isles. The Cleonian Thelt is now the primary unit of exchange for a huge portion of the Isle's population, and serves as the standardization of values for the Inter-Isles economy. The currency is produced and regulated by the Central Finance Authority of United Cleonia (CFAUC, aka 'See-Fowck'), an office of the Senate of Cleon, and is created from various grades and types of metals at 7 mints. Said mints are located across the Isle of Cleonia, designated as official mints by the "T8" moniker; each is under the protection of 3 Knights Brigades (See 'AURIUM-MANUS-GLADIUS-DOWNFALL-THUNDER: Guardians of Gold, The') and various other forms of security at different points in the standard year, and under differing conditions.
  • SYSTEMA -- The Cleonian Thelt is the base unit of the currency, the value into which denominations are split and rendered. The divisive unit is called the Stothelt, and greater units are often plural numerations of the central value. The exception to this is the Arthelt, which is 25 Thelts, and the Artathelt, which is 25 Arthelts, and the Arothelt, which is 25 Artathelts. There are 25 Stothelts to a Thelt. The individual coins, the primary physical money-mechanism of the currency, are denominated as follows;   5 Stothelt Piece,   10 Stothelt Piece,   One Thelt piece,   2 Thelt Piece,   3 Thelt Piece,   5 Thelt Piece,   8 Thelt Piece,   10 Thelt Piece,   20 Thelt Piece,   1 Arthelt piece (25 Thelts),   2 Arthelt piece,   5 Arthelt piece,   10 Arthelt piece,   15 Arthelt piece,   1 Artathelt piece,   2 Artathelt piece   5 Artathelt piece   10 Artathelt piece   20 Artathelt piece   1 Arothelt piece   2 Arothelt piece   5 Arothelt piece   20 Arothelt piece   VALUATIONS -- As opposed to other previous systems of currency, and its contemporaries, the value of the Thelt is not tied to any particular commodity. Instead, the prime-mover of the currency is instead purchasable labor value tied to minimum wages for full service. According to Amendment 9, SubSection 1, Clauses 5-9 of the Codex Vitam, "All CUC members of the varied Isles, as well as all reasonably intelligent, sapient, and able individuals not thusly designated as CUC members, are, upon performance of a full year's labor in accordance with the Daylight-Labor principle as outlined in Article 9, Section 11, Subsection 5, entitled to a wage valued at no less than 1 Cleonian Arothelt (25 Artathelts, 625 Arthelts, 15,625 Thelts). Any standardized valuation of currency equivalent to the aforementioned value is permissible for payment at the consent of the employer - but should such payments amount not properly to an equivalent value of Thelts, said employee is permitted to sue for improper payment and breach of contract. The scheduling of these payments throughout the course of a labor year or contract of specified time must number at least one twelfth of the total payment at every twelfth of the allotted labor time (e.g., one twelfth of one year's labor value, 15,625/12 = 1,302 Thelts every month, one twelfth of two years labor time, 31,250/12 = 2,604 Thelts every two months, etc. - breaking down to approximately 44 Thelts a day). The individual payments are to be rendered on days and periodizations to be determined by contract from the employee and employer. The various months, regardless of length within (whether 25 or 30), are to be counted as equivalent. Festival periods, herein referring to the following; Night of the Dimming, Day of the Shields, Festival of the Watcher's Grace, Night of the Brightening, Nights of the Bloodlet, and Day of Eos' Gift, are considered mandatory holidays, and are considered beyond the standard labor year. Individuals are permitted to be employed and to employ on such periods, for approximately 60 Thelts per day during said periods. This may is to be rendered no later than the end of the following month adjacent to the festival period.
