Catagovia

Catagovia is a large city in the Batalla Hold, and can be found on the southern coast of the hold, across a bay from Draconia. The city is full of marble buildings capped with colorful domes, as well as large towers built along the cliffside of the city. Catagovia is considered somewhat of a paradise in comparison with the rest of Wren. The dense forests of the region served as a buffer from some of the greater threats in Wren. Being free from the most perils dangers of their land, the people of Catagovia were able more quickly establish dominance over the region and create a safe land for the people. Once they joined the Vastran Kingdom, the people of Catagovia had a cultural renaissance upon the establishment of the Eternal Church. Some of the greatest prophets and priests have come from this hold, and their is a deep faith in the city that has swelled into a pride.

Demographics

Catagovia, like much of the Vastran Kingdom, has a large majority of humans in the city. Among the smaller groups in the city there were orcs and elves as well as genasi. There is a substantial amount of cultural exchange that has happened in the city, leading to there being many people whose family tree has humans, orcs, genasi and elves all among it. Though most large cities have some element of this, there is a much more significant number of people with mixed backgrounds in the city.

Government

For many years the Catagovia was ruled by a lord of the city, but after the establishment of the Eternal Church, the rule of the city fell into the hands of the Pontifex. The city was established as the religious capital of the kingdom. The Pontifex is selected from a chamber of Bishops and Cardinals who vote them into office. The Pontifex is given ultimate authority over the city itself, but much of the bureaucracy of the city is given to lower members to control.
