Sovereign Collective of Dumas

The Sovereign Collective is made up of all of the Dumas (Villages/Towns/Cities) through the islands of Draconia. Early in the second age, the few inhabitants of the island banded together in order to brave the dangers in the dense jungles. This was the genesis of the Sovereign Collective that would one day come to rule the small island nation. The people of these jungles knew that if they were to build something of a home they would all need to work together for mutually assured success. On the foundation of those tentative alliances, the first Dumas sprouted into existence and began building toward a better future. Since those early days, the island nation has gone through dramatic change, as as has the Sovereign Collective. It now consists of dozens of Dumas littered all throughout the islands, working together in harmony to build a stronger Draconia together.

Structure

Dumas is a term that refers to any sort of settlement of people, whether a small fishing village or a capital city. Together, all of the Dumas of Draconia together form the Sovereign Collective. Each Duma is allotted a certain number of representatives that they each vote on individually, and from those elections the Supreme Duma is formed in which overarching governance for Draconia is run through. When the Supreme Duma has come to an agreement, the laws must go back to the people of each Duma and be voted on for approval. Once laws are passed, the responsibility to carry them out is again left with each Duma to determine a bes course of action.

Culture

Under the Sovereign Collective, people work in order to benefit the common good of all the Dumas. This ethic has been promoted in Draconia for thousands of years, back in the early millennium of the 2nd age. This communal style of organization is at odds with much of the societies throughout the Reach. The Sovereign Collective sets out strict mandates for Draconians to follow, but only by the will of the people meaning that these mandates are created to guide the Sovereign Collective towards a better future together. This relies on mutual trust between the people, and their appointed leaders. For thousands of years this trust has remained, and the Sovereign Collective is a thriving nation amoungst it's peers.
