The last surviving member of the Khalister vampire clan from Cormyr, Duchess Khalister was a woman to be reckoned with. Charming and brutal in equal measure, she spent her final few years working to establish a new clan near Kurzig Vondar before Idari Shortcrust led a band of adventurers to end the Khalister clan once and for all.

Body Features

As a Tiefling, Magali's skin in life would have been a deep red. In undeath, her skin paled to an unusually pastel pink, though her long horns which swept back along the sides of her head kept their dark mahogany hue.

Personal history

For decades, the Khalister clan ruled supreme over a valley in the corner of Cormyr, close to the sea. They flew out across the land each night to feed, spread terror and gather more servants.
It took the full might of two dozen of Tymora's most powerful paladins and clerics to break the clan's hold, and vampire after vampire was put to death by their hand. Only one survived, Magali, who had had the foresight to prepare an escape route across the sea.
Cursing Tymora's name, she nevertheless had a stroke of luck as she heard of a new distant land, she travelled to Daring Heights and, finding it already to established to simply dominate herself, flew north to find somewhere she could start again.
She had smuggled away a powerful artifact for controlling Earth Elementals when she fled, so building a new castle was a simple task. The small but wealthy mining village of Kurzig Vondar made an ideal location for her new start in life. She had two goals: create a powerful domain to rule over and to form a new vampire clan.
Bringing a village under her sway was not difficult for a vampire of her stature; those who did not immediately fall to her gaze were too afraid to rebel, especially when hee first addition to her new clan was Bastian, an immense Bearfolk who was only more terrifying as an undead.
Magali curated her new clan carefully, choosing from locals and passers by between those who were worthy additions to her family and those who would be her family's food. A couple of Kenku and Tabaxi made the cut, as did a matronly dragonborn sorcerer who became Duchess Khalister's housekeeper.
But Tymora, it seemed, wasn't finished destroying the Khalisters. A party of adventurers from Daring Heights was guided to the area by an Oracle of Tymora who was barely coming of age, the young halfling Idari Shortcrust. The adventurers slaughtered her new clan in short order and broke into Castle Dawnsend.
Duchess Khalister waited for them in her favourite room - the conservatory with planters filled with flowers, an organ playing and her chair facing out the large window across the rolling hills and waterfall to the south. The fight was quick, bloody and she was destroyed utterly. Thus ended Clan Khalister.
