Feyverge Valley

About half a day's travel south east into the Feythorn Forest from Daring Heights, the environment begins to change drastically. The Feythorn is full of densely packed coniferous trees, deep green coating the branches that form the canopy above. The foliage elsewhere is all the standard array of rich greens and browns you might expect, with the occasional flashes of colour from a bush of flowers or berries.
As the Feyverge approaches however, colour is the first thing most people notice - a vibrancy through the trees ahead combined with a sweet air that always smells like it has recently rained. As a traveller approaches, they will pass increasingly large flowers with riotously colourful petals, and small motes of light dance and float around in the air.
The Feyverge is a small valley in the Feythorn Forest where passage through to the Feywild as easily as walking around a particular tree. Long and easy exposure to the fantastic Feywild flora has bled through to the surrounding forest, and the valley is absolutely dominated by impossible flowers and plantlife. The trees are tall with bark glistening with silver and blue veins and thick maroon leaves. The flowers are a complete panoply of colour - all bright neons ranging the full spectrum. It's an overwhelming sight, but it prepares people a little for the full Feywild experience they're about to enter.
As a free gateway to the realm of the Fey, it is usually guarded by a sentry of Queen Sarastra's. The latest guardian however, the eladrin warrior Hama clad in silver breastplate, found the tedium and mundanity of the Material Plane too much to handle, and so instead spends much of his time at The Gilded Mirror in Daring, visiting the casino regularly. Whether the Queen is aware of how frequently Hama abandons his post is unclear.
