Architects of Ma'at
Architects of Ma'at
With the Exodus of the gods,Ma'at tasked six of the great builders of Thinis to continue her work. She knew what was in the hearts of men and the powers offered as Pharaoh, so these six were given the task to use her knowledge and gifts to keep things in check. they then were the first Architects of Ma'at. Power must be tempered and justice balanced. every great work of the Architects comissioned had a secondary purpose to maintain balance and order. They lined the Tombs with wards to prevent pharaohs from returning as well as the traps to prevent looters. Create infastructure for cities in balance with the flood plains of the rivers. Every Architect is tattood on their forearm, the ostrich feather, the symbol of Ma'at. While there are fake versions of the tattoo, only those blessed by Ma'at, shine gold in the moonlight. It is said that the tattoo bonds all the architects together, even after death.Structure
The Leader is called the Great Sixth as there are always 6 active architects. He is also, usually the current Architect working with the Pharaoh.
at least two other architects see to any ancellary construction (tombs to Visers, generals, Canals, palaces, etc) within the kingdom.
the last 3 are either apprentices or are part of the planning of city infastructure.

It was in 345 that the false Pharaoh was on the throne learned of the Architects of Ma'at. To earn favor of the Hyborians, the false pharaoh revealed the organization to the Hyborian Lord to Khemit. The Hyborian Lord thought of the wealth hidden in the ancient tombs and started hunting down the Architects. He trapped the Greatest of Sixth and another architect with the planning of the Pharaoh's Canal. two more were tracked down after a few years. Each were torchured for their secrets. fortunately the Hyborian Lord only wanted gold and knew of the current view of Khemit. They revealed the mundane secrets about tombs that were already known.
This also added presidence to the Hyborian Emperor to enforce the forbiddence of robbing of tombs (to prevent any upstarts from getting ideas. In Ma'at Justice, the Hyborian Lord was made an example by the Emperor after learning of the treasures the lord was hoarding.
of the last two architects, Hemiunu was with Pharaoh Menkamin I and constructing his tomb and died of old age without an apprentice and Apprentice Sneferu who fled Khemit never to be heard from
