Glass Making
Glass making in Khemit begain with crushed quartz fused together with plant ash making more of a semi transparent ceramic called faience. This was done through much of the Old Khemtic period.
At the end of the Old Khemitic period, silicate sand was used to create small glass bottles for perfumes and oils or beads. Beads were treated as semi-precious stones to the Pharaoh families. These glass items often had occlusions and bubbles for large scale items. It wasn't until the Late Khemitian period after the Hyborian Hegemony did the technology improve the transparancy of the glass.
In the Late Khemitian period, glass was a major export (have to do something with all that sand). Large glass beads were created for trade out along the Silk Road from several Glass factories.
It was also during the Late Khemitian period, after the Hyborian Hegemony, that the khemitians merged their knowledge of gold with glass and the great glass makers to create stained glass of various colors.
Today the Guilds control the glass making process from three cities. Only members of the "Yener-en-wedjeh" (Stone that flows) are allowed to craft in glass or faience, if they paid their dues.
Those that have not paid their dues or are not guild members, can still collect broken pieces and recycle them into bead for reuse by guild members.
