Great Sand Sea

Geography

Almost 2000 Kilometers wide from the Gulf of Kadesh to the Harh-Ahu-Ra Hills and over 1000 Kilometers from the Kufa Mountains to the Sea of Baal, the Great Sand Sea is largest desert of Libynos. Kingdoms like Khartous, Guurzan, and Triple Kingdom of Khemit claim parts of the desert. There are few points of interest within the Great Sand Sea: Duat Canyon Footprints of the Gods Kufa Mountains   The rest is a vast expanse contains mainly of drifting sand dunes with little vegetation. Temperatures average 122 degrees farenheit in the day, and chilling to 40 degrees at night.

Natural Resources

The natron mines of Khemit have been important to Khemitians for everything from religion to art. There are many mines in the Harh-Ahu-Ra Hills for the natron. Because of it's importance, there is illegal and dangerous smuggling out of Duat Canyon.   Pools irrigated from the sea of Baal are heated in the great sand sea to collect the salt for food preservation.

History

When the Kingdom of Khemit was first founded during the Age of Gods, it was comprised of all of what is now Khemit, the Great Sand Sea, and more. And truth be told, there was no sea. Rivers cut through it, increasing the fertile land by 100 fold. Through greed of men and influenced by the Black Tapestry did the land change to sand. The pharaohs of the past would take pieces of the old god's monuments as embellishments to their own tombs and temples without any understanding of the magics that created them or their function. Thinis, the great capitol was swallowed up by the Great Sand Sea.
