House of Penthru: Kitchen

Stairs from the dining room lead up to the roof of the house, where the kitchen was. In the far-left corner is a large ceramic cistern. There is a smaller cistern connected to that, near the stone ovens and the fragile remains of a copper pipe leading from it to the floor. In the far-right corner are 2 large ceramic silos, most likely to have contained grains. In the middle, bleached by the sun, are the remains of wooden tables, cracked stone slabs, and oxidized remains of copper utensils. Rooftop kitchens are not totally uncommon with the wealthy, but this is unusual having both plumbing and a connected cistern for gravity fed bath.

The sky goes dark. there’s a glow from around the city and it takes a moment to realize Wati is on fire. Ariseti is on the roof in front of you, there is a madness in her eyes as she approaches the viewer. she is hunched over with a hot wind blowing her hijab and her hair escapes its confines. There is shouting and fighting below, but she seems oblivious to the cacophony. When she is inches from you, her expression changes to one of pleading, she reaches out. The scene fades back to daylight with the whispered word in your ear, Eto.
