Irasil's Silent Chambers are a special place of worship located across many churches and institutions dedicated to the god Irasil.
Description
The silent chambers are a series of small, bare rooms set behind steel doors or silvery curtains within a church of Irasil. Within these rooms is usually a comfortable place to sit; often either a bench or a sitting pillow. Beside the seat is a simple chain that activates the room when pulled. Upon activation, the light goes out, and the room is magically silenced. Leaving the patron with nothing but their own thoughts, the room is said to be ideal to come to terms with your confessions, feelings and inner-self, or to commune spiritually with Irasil.
Mechanism
The rooms function by activating a specialised rune, usually set within the inner construction of the ceiling with magical channels radiating down and through the room's walls and floor.. This rune is created by a powerful cleric to form a special zone of silence exclusive to the room. Once activated, the chain can be pulled again to drop the silence effect and turn the lights back on. Clerics or other clergy members can remove the effect from outside of the room in case of an emergency, and churches usually have an emergency button or lever to deactivate all the rooms at once.
Prevalance
Silent chambers gained popularity in the early 10,000s SA and were very effective at aiding visitors in processing their emotions and confessing to sins in a safe place. Many devout followers of Irasil encourage use of the chambers to commune with Irasil, many claiming that loud and messy thoughts can be the most common cause of difficulty when attempting contact.
