Dragonborn

The mortal creatures that were blessed by dragons, elevated above the weakness typical of their ilk, are known as dragonborn. These creatures live to serve their winged masters and reside alongside them in the land of Flame's Cradle. The overwhelming majority of Dragonborn today were not selected from mortal chaff but have served their masters for many generations.   The dragons of Flame's Cradle adhere to a strict social heirarchy. At the very top stand the red dragons who all claim relation to the god-emperor Baelus the Conqueror. Below them are the rest of the chromatic families who form the respectable middle class. Next are most metallic dragons who face frequent abuse at the claws of others. Finally, at the very bottom, are the silver dragons, the family of the god-emperor's nemesis, Galathron the Redeemer, who vanished around a milennium ago. These tiers are mirrored by the dragons servants. It is unknown to mortals why the metallic dragons of Flame's Cradle remain and don't leave for less tyrannical lands.   The dragonborn may serve under dragons but they are far from the lowest of society. Just below them sit comfortably the kobolds, who have a mysterios relation with the chromatic dragons that rule the myre. At the very bottom sit the slaves, men and dwarves that toil in the work deemed beneath the scaled. Compared to the dragonborn these creatures are weak and stupid but it is agreed they have their uses. The metallic dragons tend to gather more slaves than chromatics and treat them far better, a practise attributed to a weakness of character by the rest of the myre.   Beyond the explicit borders of Flame's Cradle sprawl the lands of mortals and wilds yet untamed. The god-emperor still holds sway in these far flung regions, though his edicts are less enforced. It is among these enclaves where one will find gem dragons, who never settled in Flame's Cradle.   Rules:   To play a dragonborn in the Known World will require the rules for Chromatic, Gem and Metallic dragonborn detailed in Fizban's Treasury of Dragons, a Dungeons and Dragons Fifth Edition Supplement, with a change to the language section of the rules so that you can speak, read and write Draconic and one other language of your choice.   Dragonborn and the Classes:   Adhering to a life of service and a strict social order, dragonborn are not as diverse in their typical practises as other races.
