Halflings

For all of their existence, Halflings have been content to sit on the side lines of history. A quiet life out of the way of the larger folk let's them enjoy life in the ways that matter: Warm homes, good food and hearty drink.   Halfling society seems to move slower than those around them. When the men are busy finding new ways to build a house in the most inhospitable places and the elves concern themselves with the movements of the stars, the halflings are happy to simply keep on living as they always have, learning the way of the world from their parents, living long, happy lives and sharing their way of life with the next generation before peacefully passing away.   Though the land of Halfholm seems a small place, nestled happily into the man kingdom of Flemer, the halflings within can be identified by two disctinct ethnicities going back far longer than any records can trace and for just as long there has been a scruple between the two.   Lightfoots: Living mostly on the west side, closer to the man town of Reen, the lightfoots have made a habit of conversation with larger peoples. They make up a majority of halflings one sees outside of Halfholm and give always make sure to give the best impression of their people. Theirs is a taller stature and a fairer head, making it humourously common for adult lightfoots to be mistaken for peppy Flemen children.   Lightfoots often regard stouts as boring folk who have no sense of wonder, adventure and all the other things that drive a halfling to break his yearly routine.   Stouts: The short and paunch stout is the exact image conjured in the mind when one thinks of a halfling, working barefoot in muddy fields and returning to enjoy the fruits of their labour in the evening with a bountiful meal. Stouts make a point to distance themselves from the world of man that surrounds, though they are still techincally the subjects of Flemer and thus the Ossien Empire. This foreign policy only drives the divide between them and the lightdfoots. They see nought but trouble coming from the interference fo halflings in other races' business and there is nothing a halfing should avoid more than trouble.   Their disinterest with goings on of those beyond Halfholm has given them much more time to hone their skills. Snuggled up to the deep woods that form at the border of Flemen, stouts have perfected the art of hunting, gathering and cooking. On a good day, a stout and his sons will bring back some deer for his wife and daughters to prepare so that his whole extended family can have a beautiful meal together. Stout food is some of the most legendary in the Known World the precious few beyond Halfholm that have tasted it tell the tale for the rest of their lives.   Rules: To play a halfling or halflet in the Known World requires the corresponding rules found in the Dungeons and Dragons Fifth Edition Players Handbook with a change to the languages rule such that you known Halfling and one other language of your choice.   Halflings and the classes: The small land and small population of these small people gives a small variety of practised classes. While all classes are available to all Halflings the following are the classes typically found among halfling adventurers.   Bards:   Being citizens of the empire, they may practise the Colleges of Eloquence, Lore and Valour at the Royal Music College. Halflings practise the College of Lore. Lightfoots practise the College of Eloquence.   Clerics:   Halflings practise the Family, Light and Nature Domains.   Monks:   Halflings practise the Way of the Drunken Master.   Rangers:   Halflings practise the Gloom Stalker Conclave. Stouts practise the Beast Master and Hunter Conclaves.   Rogues:   Halfings practise the Thief Roguish Archetype. Lightfoots practise the Mastermind Roguish Archetype.   Wizards: Being imperial citizens, halflings may practise the Abjuration, Evocation, Illusion and Scipture Arcane Traditions at the Calite University of Magecraft. Halflings practise the Illusion Arcane Tradition.
